Time to Bundle Up - Winter is coming

Well Ms. Marpro enjoyed the summer with "going topless - showing herself down to the bare wood", but now it's Winter and it coming quick and with a cold, wet spell about. So, it's time to prime that bare wood and "batten" down the hatches for the next couple of months. Take a look!

(Wishing that we had more time, we had to act quickly to protect Ms. Marpro for the next couple of winter months. So, we protected the bare wood, with primer - started with the staining and varnishing as well)

Ms. Marpro goes Topless for Halloween!

Well, Ms. Marpro was invited to a Halloween Party at Miller Park and she couldn't decide what to wear and if she should be "decked out". . . So she opted to go Topless, take a look!

We left Saturday afternoon, and were greeted just outside of Miller Park, by Skylark and Gifted Woodey, who then led us into the Miller Park Marina, to ensure we arrived safely.

While traveling, Ms. Marpo began getting decorated inside, with hanging bats who told jokes like. . . "what kind of music does the Mummy listen to? . . . Rap Music", spider-webs askew, body part's through out, rats running a muck, torches, a moon lite image of a captain's hat and a lit pumpkin. Even the First Mate dressed up as a "bewitching bear". Unfortunately, not all the pictures come out well.

First Adventure with the "Big Boys", well actually Girls!

From August through September, Ms. Marpro had been being worked on, taking little trips here and there, but mostly been worked on. From the outside into the engine(s), TLC was being provided.

Now, it's September and Ms. Marpo has been asked to join with the "Big Boys, well actually Girls", for a trip to Old Sacramento on September 21st through September 23rd.

Not sure, if she would fit in, knowing how beatuiful the other boats would be, but then, they all started from about where she is, she thought better of herself and went.
Here are a few friends . . .

Mini Trips taken - We have to have fun too!

Well Ms. Marpro is being worked on, but she wanted to fun too! So there has been some mini trips that we have taken, in between the work. . .

July 1st - Destination: Old Sacramento

July 22st - Desination: Lock/Walnut Grove

July 29th - Desination: ungiven - cruise around - Hey that's fun too!

I don't think she's been this active for many, many years! - She says it's not nice to mention how old a Lady is or to imply to one's age. - oops:)

Here begins the work...

Ms. Marpro took a couple of months to rest and relax in her new home. Really, I think it was more for us, "what the heck did we just get ourselves into?"

August through about now...

Well, here we are starting off. Not knowing what all needed to be done, we jumped in. First thing we did was to take off the paint and see the barewood, as is. And "as is" wasn't that bad, considering her age, but yes, there were areas that need work and work now.

Currently Ms. Marpro's down to the bearwood on both sides, (see pics above).

Keep in touch and visit this site often and you'll see the progress come about....

Ms. Marpro's coming home to Clarksburg

March 23, 2007 - It was time to bring Ms. Marpo from Eddio's Harbor to home, Clarksburg. With several days, working on her engines, the day had come and we were taking her home to Clarksburg.

This trip was suppose to take hours, however, we didn't know how many hours that really was going to be!
Here, we are just literally, leaving the docks of Eddio's . . . We then came across a bridge and she actually had to have the bridge open for her! This was getting to be sooo exciting. Our first, of what would be many stops, to check the engines temp (remember, she hadn't run for many years).

This trip, took around 9 - 10 hours, with all the stops that we made. Our last stop was in Walnut Nut Grove, (very close to home), due to a fuel pump that went out! I think we were there for about an hour, checking to see if we could find another replacement part, we didn't, but I do want to say "Thank you" to the Napa Auto Parts Store of all their help!

With only one engine now running, we decided to keep going, we were close to home! And we made it there . . . home that is, Clarksburg. With one engine (mind you the engine that got us home was the weaker of the two) but Ms. Marpro did want to come home and she did!
She's home!

A Little History from Ms. Marpro

Ms. Marpro dates back quite some time (1948), but her most recent history starts when a friend of our's picked her out, sight unseen and took her to her then, new home - Eddio's Harbor.

Our friend, with much saddness, had decided that she wanted to find someone to take Ms. Marpro and enjoy her for all she has to offer, we took her immediately. - Thank you!

Ms. Marpro, hadn't really run for many years, and in order for us to bring her home, we needed either to tow her or get her going on her own power. We opted for the later. The main picture is of her coming to her new home, now in Clarksburg, California.
